The opening of the conference dedicated to Hepatitis Day began with the message of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Armenia, Mrs. Anahit Avanesyan:

I am pleased to welcome the participants of this conference organized within the framework of World Hepatitis Day, this professional potential, who strive to achieve the elimination of hepatitis with our joint efforts as a challenge of the century.

After the implementation of the Hepatitis Prevention and Control Program in Armenia, acute and chronic cases of hepatitis have decreased, early detection has improved. Compared to 2024, acute hepatitis incidence rates decreased in 2025.

The best and most effective way to prevent hepatitis B is vaccination against hepatitis B, which has seen a sharp decrease in the disease after its introduction in our country.

In recent years, no case of hepatitis B has been recorded among people under 18 years of age. This is a vivid proof of the necessity, importance and effectiveness of vaccinations in the prevention of viral hepatitis B.

Since 2020, we have launched the state program for free diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of patients with viral hepatitis C. Patients with “viral hepatitis C disease” registered in Armenia, including those in penitentiary institutions, are provided with the latest antiviral drugs without interruption. In total, 3010 patients received treatment during 2020-2024, 95% of whom, about 2860 patients, were completely cured.

Within the framework of various programs, we regularly conduct free and anonymous examinations in mobile clinics, encouraging examination and prevention.

I wish you productive work and useful professional discussions.
